Troubleshooting¶
Here you'll find solutions for common problems with SplitHappens.
Login Issues¶
I can't log in
Check the following:
- Email and password correct? Pay attention to upper/lowercase in the password.
- Forgot password? Use the "Forgot Password" function on the login screen. You'll receive an email with a reset link.
- Google/Apple Sign-In: Make sure you're using the same account you originally registered with.
- Internet connection: Login is not possible without an internet connection. Check your WiFi or mobile data.
- App version: Make sure you have the latest version of SplitHappens installed.
My account has been locked
If your account has been locked, contact us at support@splithappens.io with your registered email address. We'll resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Synchronization¶
Changes are not being displayed
The following steps may help:
- Pull-to-refresh: Pull the screen down to reload data.
- Check internet connection: Changes can only sync when a connection is available.
- Restart the app: Close the app completely (not just minimize) and reopen it.
- Update the app: Make sure you have the latest version from the App Store / Play Store.
Bills are missing from the Home screen
Possible causes:
- Check filters: Look at the active filters (via the filter button). They may be filtering out the bill you're looking for.
- Event bills: Bills created in events also appear on the Home screen — recognizable by the event badge.
- Archived bills: Fully settled bills may be displayed as archived.
Receipt Scanning¶
The AI doesn't recognize my receipt
Tips for better recognition:
- Lighting: Ensure even, bright light without strong shadows.
- Lay receipt flat: Wrinkles and folds make recognition harder.
- Portrait orientation: Photograph the receipt in portrait mode.
- Fully visible: The entire receipt must be in the image, including the total.
- Thermal paper: Faded receipts on thermal paper are hard to read — try stronger light or higher contrast.
- Enter manually: You can always enter items manually if automatic recognition doesn't work.
Notifications¶
I'm not receiving push notifications
Check system permissions:
- iOS: Open System Settings → SplitHappens → Notifications → make sure notifications are allowed.
- Android: Open System Settings → Apps → SplitHappens → Notifications → make sure notifications are enabled.
Check app settings:
- In the app, go to Profile → Notifications and make sure the desired categories are enabled. More details under Configure Notifications.
General Tips¶
The app is slow or freezing
- Restart the app: Close the app completely and reopen it.
- Restart device: Restarting your device can help.
- Storage space: Make sure there's enough storage space on your device.
- Update the app: Install the latest version from the App Store / Play Store.
A feature isn't working as expected
- Check that you have the latest app version installed.
- Try restarting the app.
